How long will it take to complete my window installation project?
Most jobs are completed in 1 to 2 days depending on the size of the job.

Yes! We offer a transferable lifetime warranty through the manufacturer that covers, vinyl parts of the window, mechanical parts, insulated glass against seal failure, accidental glass breakage and screen frame.
What are the benefits of energy efficient windows and how can they save me money?
Energy efficient windows are windows that have features such as low-e coatings, double or triple glazing, gas between panes, and insulated frames that reduce the amount of heat transfer and air leakage between the interior and exterior of your home. By installing energy efficient windows, you can enjoy the following benefits:

  • Save money on energy bills
  • Improve home comfort
  • Increase property value
  • Reduce environmental impact
What is the difference between a single-hung and a double-hung window?
A single-hung window has a fixed piece of glass at the top and only the bottom sash operates. A double-hung window has both top and bottom sashes that move up and down and also tilt in for easy cleaning. A single-hung window is harder to clean as there is only one sash that moves.
Should I replace all of the windows at one time or can I replace them in stages?
Some people choose to complete all the projects at once, so they can enjoy a more energy efficient home sooner and avoid multiple disruptions. Others prefer to do them in stages, starting with the most used or convenient areas of their home. However, this means they won’t see the full energy savings until the end. The best option depends on each homeowner’s budget and preference. At American Made Windows of the Upstate, we work with each homeowner to come up with the best option to fit their desires.
What is the best time of year to replace my windows?
You can replace your windows in any season. We have the experience, knowledge and the equipment to handle any weather condition to ensure a smooth and efficient installation. We remove and install your windows one at a time, so each opening is sealed up before moving on to the next. This way, we minimize the exposure of your home to the elements while maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature.

If you have any questions about our window replacement process or want to get a free estimate, please contact us today. We’ll be happy to assist you with your window project.

What do I need to do in preparation for new windows being installed?
In general, the homeowner should remove curtains and or blinds as well as move any furniture in front of the windows, to give us two feet to work. Also, take down any decorative items hanging on the wall that could fall during installation. Your window consultant will offer advice during your consultation.
Do the window installers need to come inside of my home during my window installation?
In most cases, the majority work is done from the outside of the home. In these cases, there will be an installer on the inside to square and level the window in the opening, put installation screws in, as well as caulk and seal the interior of the window. There will be some homes that will require an install from the inside verses the outside.

Yes! American Made Windows of the Upstate offers a wide variety of interior and exterior color options, including the popular black window.
What do I do with my old windows?

American Made Windows of the Upstate will remove the old windows and any debris from the installation process from your property. This is included in every project. In some instances, homeowners want to keep the old windows, and that is perfectly fine. Our installers will neatly stack them at your direction.

I've heard metal conducts heat and cold, do you use a metal spacer in your windows?
It is true, a metal spacer is highly conductive, which means it transfers heat and cold between the panes of glass, leading to energy loss, condensation, and seal failure. We use the Super Spacer which is much less conductive, meaning it blocks heat and cold transfer. This results in better energy savings, comfort and durability! The Super Spacer is foam based and has better flexibility, UV resistance and also noise reduction. The Super Spacer is far superior to a metal spacer and a better option when replacing your
windows.
How do I know when it's time to replace my windows?

Here are some signs that indicate you need to replace your windows:

  • Moisture or fogging between the panes of glass
  • Drafts or cold spots near the windows
  • Windows do not operate properly, won’t stay open or closed on their own
  • Windows do not lock properly
  • Cracks, rot or mold on window frames
  • Rotting wood on the outside of the frame or sash
  • You hear too much noise from the outside
  • Outdated windows that do not match your style

If you experience any of these issues, it may be time to consider replacing your windows with new, high-quality, and energy-efficient ones. At American Made Windows of the Upstate, we offer a wide range of window products and services that can suit your needs and budget. Contact us today and get a free estimate for your window project.

How long do vinyl windows last?
All of our windows come with a transferable lifetime warranty; however, not all vinyl windows are of the same quality. When replacing your windows, it is important to know if you are getting a high quality virgin vinyl or a window that is made using recycled vinyl. You can expect to get anywhere from 10 to 50 years depending on the quality of the window you buy. Recycled vinyl is prone to fading, cracking, warping, or shrinking due to weather exposure and UV. That is why American Made Windows of the Upstate offers only windows made from virgin vinyl which are durable, energy efficient, and low maintenance making them a popular choice for homeowners.
